DEIAB Statement

At the Association of Legal Administrators Gateway Chapter ("ALA Gateway"), we are dedicated to cultivating a legal community that thrives on the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging. We firmly believe that embracing a wide range of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences enriches our association and strengthens the legal profession as a whole.

Our Commitment

  1. Diversity:
We celebrate the diversity of our members, recognizing the unique qualities that each individual brings to our community. We value differences in race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, ability, socio-economic status, and beyond.
  2. Equity:
ALA Gateway is committed to creating an equitable environment where every member has equal access to opportunities, resources, and professional growth. We actively work to eliminate barriers that may impede the success of any individual within our association.
  3. Inclusion:
Inclusivity is at the heart of our association. We strive to foster a culture where every member feels valued, respected, and heard. Our commitment to inclusion extends to the diversity of thought, ensuring that all voices contribute to the vibrancy of our community.
  4. Accessibility:
ALA Gateway is dedicated to providing accessible opportunities for participation, engagement, and leadership within our association. We are proactive in addressing physical, technological, and attitudinal barriers to ensure that everyone can fully participate and contribute.
  5. Belonging:
We recognize that true diversity and inclusion involve fostering a sense of belonging. ALA Gateway is committed to creating an environment where every member feels they belong, regardless of their background or identity.

Actions Speak Louder
To realize our commitment, ALA Gateway pledges to:

  • Promote Diversity in Leadership: Actively seek diverse perspectives in leadership roles within the association, ensuring that decision-making reflects the richness of our membership.
  • Continuous Education: Implement ongoing educational initiatives to raise awareness, foster cultural competence, and address unconscious biases.
  • Inclusive Programming: Design programs and events that reflect the diversity of our membership, addressing the unique needs and interests of all participants.
  • Collaborate for Change: Work collaboratively with other organizations and stakeholders to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging in the legal community in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, its Diversity Scholarship and Annual Dues Grant.

Together We Thrive:
At ALA Gateway, we believe that by embracing and advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging, we create a stronger, more innovative, and resilient legal community. We invite all members to join us in this collective journey toward a future where everyone can thrive professionally and personally.
