Message from the President
We are approaching the dog days of summer and the July 4th holiday. Does that mean time for rest and relaxation? Not for the ALA Gateway Chapter. We are cruising at full speed ahead!
Our chapter hosted two outstanding educational events in June: 1) Automation Tools for Legal Drafting – Best Practices and 2) Remote and Mobile Access for Non-Exempt Employees: Workplace Flexibility or FLSA Nightmare? There are more educational opportunities on the horizon, so please be ready to take advantage of them.
Please join us at the July 17th meeting for an interactive diversity conversation with the Diversity Awareness Partnership. We will use audience response technology which is sure to be a hit with the Gen X and Gen Y crowd, as well as the SLIP interns. Please remember to bring your SLIP interns to this meeting. They can attend free of charge.
All hands on deck! Our next Community Connection event is scheduled for Saturday, July 27, 2013 and we are looking for volunteers. Please join us at Operation Food Search’s University City Warehouse from 2:00-6:00 p.m. where we will sort donations and prepare them for pick-up. Contact Sherry Smith at Carmody MacDonald if you are able to lend a hand for this worthy cause.
It’s time to kick back and relax at our next Social Connection event scheduled for Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. – Legally Blond The Musical at the Kirkwood Civic Center. Please join us early for appetizers and a pre-show private patio party beginning at 5:30 p.m. at J.?Gilberts, as well as a complimentary champagne and dessert reception after the show. All members and Gold level business partners are invited to attend. Please RSVP today for this event through our website. Contact our Cruise Director, July Hill at Husch Blackwell for more information.
Being a legal administrator is challenging, and we are prepared to provide you with some techniques that will make your mission possible. Please join us for our annual Legal Forum & Exposition scheduled for Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis. You have each received an invitation via personal delivery from one or more board members. Please RSVP for this event. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this opportunity.
Our next port of call is the Chapter Leadership Institute in Atlanta, Georgia later this month, where the board plans to come away with some new ideas for our chapter. Stay tuned for more announcements, or a call from one of the board members to join our crew and Get On Board!
Have a safe and happy July 4th holiday!
