The Labor Day holiday is upon us! What does it mean to you?

Summer may be winding down, but ALA Gateway is gearing up for a busy fall season!
Our chapter hosted two outstanding educational events in August: 1) The Annual Legal Forum & Exposition and 2) The Changing Role of the Legal Secretary. We have more educational sessions planned, so be ready to take advantage of them. Watch your e-mail for invitations to our September meeting where we will discuss the topic of orderly succession of firm management, and our October law leadership event with nationally renowned speaker Steve Gilliland. You don’t want to miss the boat on these wonderful educational opportunities ALA Gateway has to offer.
We have another call for all hands on deck! Our next Community Connections event is scheduled for Sunday, September 8, 2013 and we are looking for volunteers. Please join us at Frontier Park in St. Charles from 7:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. where we will work the Trails for Tails event. All proceeds from this event will benefit Five Acres Animal Shelter. Contact Sherry Smith at Carmody MacDonald if you are able to lend a hand for this worthy cause.
Our next port of call is the Regions 1 & 3 Conference & Expo in Cleveland, Ohio on October 24-26, 2013. Thanks to the strong support of our business partners, we are able to award 10 scholarships at $750 each. If you have not yet applied, please do so as soon as possible. The application deadline is Friday, August 30, 2013. Don’t miss out on this opportunity.
