DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION, ACCESSIBILITY & BELONGING TEAM
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility and Belonging Team’s mission is to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and belonging in the legal profession and be active in the local legal community for purposes of providing support and education to our members in each of these areas, and recruiting and retaining diverse members to our Chapter and the legal community as a whole. This Team supports the ALA's commitment to provide resources, products and services that are accessible to everyone; encourage every individual to bring their authentic self to the table so we can acknowledge, confront and remedy any decisions or behaviors inconsistent with our mission; build trust through open and honest communication based on mutual respect; and measure and transparently report results on our progress in these commitments and our mission. The team meets at least quarterly for purposes of planning and developing Gateway Chapter events, programs and activities such as presentations, mentorship of diverse students, and supervision of the Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship program and the DEIA Membership Grant.
