2015 Fall President's Update

Hello everyone, Wow, it’s hard to believe it is fall already and the year is passing by very quickly!

Our Gateway ALA members have been very busy. In August, we held our Veterans’ Job Fair/Legal Forum Exposition; it was enjoyed by all who attended. Thank you to all the members and Business Partners who participated to make this an outstanding event. Special congratulations to Midwest Litigation Services who won the booth decorating contest.

September has been non-stop for our Chapter. A number of our members attended the Business of Law Seminar in New Orleans and reported back on a number of great sessions. We held another successful joint meeting with LMA on Generational Marketing. Kara Brostron and I took to the alleys and participated in the St. Louis Paralegal Bowling. The Gateway Chapter partnered with Saint Louis University School of Law and BAMSL to sponsor the second annual Business Skills seminar with new associates who have joined the practice.

Our Chapter understands the importance of partnering with other organizations to build relationships to benefit the legal industry and the business partners who support us.

We have a number of events remaining for 2015. On October 21, we will have our Annual Law Leadership Luncheon, with a great speaker, Lilly Ledbetter. Make sure you invite your employment attorneys and law firm leaders within your firm. In November, we have our monthly meeting which will be an employment law update. We will start this meeting early at 11:30 and ALA Past President Paula Barnes joins us to talk about the proposed ALA Name Change-LawVantage, Your Business of Law Society. This is an important meeting and I encourage everyone to attend. In December, we have our annual Holiday Luncheon; it promises to be a sweet event. We are also working on both a charity and social event for later this year. Always check the website calendar for more information on those events. Business partners are invited and encouraged to attend the events in November and December and remember to register on the website.

Please keep an eye on the website and your emails for additional information on all upcoming events. Also, remember to utilize our Business Partners as they really support us, so we need to support them. Thank you to all the members who serve our chapter, you keep the train on track and moving!!

Please plan to attend the upcoming events; I look forward to visiting with you. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Jeff Feltz
2015-2016 ALA Gateway President
