2015 Changes to Obtaining the CLM

Effective immediately, ALA International is excited to announce that significant changes have been implemented to requirements needed to obtain ALA's Certified Legal ManagerSM designation!

  1. Functional Specialists applying for the exam now need to have only 3 years of experience, not 5. (All other requirements for them remain the same.)
  2. Lunch presentations will now be accepted for CLM credit. Most everything counts for CLM recertification, but some may also count for the Application. To determine what counts for CLM application credit, ALA International posted instructions here, but you can always confer with ALA staff at certification@alanet.org.

Lastly, the online study program is finally here and registration is now open.  Good for anyone who wants a refresher course on Human Resources, for 18 hours of CLM Recertification credit, 2 hours of Writing Skills for CLM applicants, or for potential CLM applicants as part of their CLM study resources. Additionally, one can earn all 10 hours of CLM application credit through ALA webinars.

Message from the President - Knowledge + Action = Power

Knowledge + Action = Power

In 2014, the ALA Gateway Chapter built alliances with more organizations than it ever had in the past.  Why?  Because we have so much to learn from our new alliances and they have so much to learn from us.  The legal environment is ever-changing and we have more help than ever keeping up with the current market and trends in the industry.  We will continue on this path in 2015.  We also had an amazing line up of education including our monthly education sessions; a legal skills seminar for young attorneys; and our legal forum which contained relevant information for ALA members, as well as many other legal organization members.   Additionally, we performed many worthwhile service acts for local charities.

So, what’s on tap for 2015?  Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends!  We’re so glad you could attend!  Come Inside!  Come Inside!  I love that Emerson, Lake and Palmer song.  Don’t you?  The ALA Gateway Chapter is ready to outperform 2014!  Our script continues with the following events:

On January 21st, the monthly education meeting will be at Sandberg Phoenix.  The topic is:  Best Practice Initiative:  Key Performance Indicators.

February 25th is the Business Partner Appreciation Event.  More details to follow.  Please make sure you attend and show support for our wonderful business partners!

And look out in March as Jeff Feltz will take over as President of our chapter and move us even further along with new and exciting initiatives.   I wish everyone a very happy and healthy 2015!

Your Executive Director,
Lisa Waligorski, CLM
Gateway ALA Chapter President, 2014-2015
